I've been in the retail trenches for over 13 years. Pharmacy used to be uncomplicated. Now in addition to correctly filling prescriptions, I have a zillion other functions that I must do in order to comply with various laws. Why can't pharmacy be easy like it was when I graduated?
I am Pharmacy God, the light of hope for all pharmacists out there in the retail world.
I have worked in large cities and small towns, high-volume and snail-paced pharmacies. Through it all, I've learned that no matter where you work retail, it sucks. Customers, management, insurance companies....they all hate us. So I decided to start blogging as a means of therapy for myself (and possibly you too).
Most of the time I will just rant about issues that we all know too well. From time to time I might actually come up with something of substance.
I guess this is the thing to do in order to protect myself, HIPAA and all. So here it is. I will never use an actual patient name. If I use an age in my story, it will not be exact. I may change the sex of a patient. Locations may not be entirely accurate. Stories may have occured 10 minutes ago or 10 years ago. I may embellish parts of the conversation. I may omit some as well. The stories are mainly to share in the experience that we have come to know as retail pharmacy. Basically, if you think that I'm talking about you, I'm not. I've had the same experience with at least a dozen other patients over the years.
